It is known for its emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components and a spicy edge. Thai food is known for its complex interplay of at least three and up to four or five fundamental taste senses in each dish. You can experience sour, sweet, salty, bitter and spicy all in one plate.

Thai food is internationally famous and is essentially a marriage of centuries-old Eastern and Western influences harmoniously combined into something which is uniquely from Thailand.

Originally the cuisine had a Buddhist background. Thais shunned the use of large animals in big chunks. Big cuts of meat were shredded and laced with herbs and spices. Traditional Thai cooking methods were stewing and baking, or grilling. Chinese influences saw the introduction of frying, stir frying and deep-frying. Culinary influences from the 17th century onwards included Portuguese, Dutch, French and Japanese. Chillies were introduced to Thai cooking during the late 1600s by Portuguese missionaries who had acquired a taste for them while serving in South America.

Executive Chef Ignacio Uribe and Sous Chef Hugo Mejia have created a wonderful Thai menu and the Weekly Special Menu offers some interesting choices. Dinner is served from 5 to 11pm.
