Thanksgiving isn't just an American holiday. Canada celebrates Turkey Day, too. Actually, it was the first country to do so. Canadian Thanksgiving, which falls on the second Monday in October, was first celebrated by the arctic explorer Martin Frobisher in 1578. That was more than 40 years before the Pilgrims arrived in America.

Canadians celebrate the holiday much like their southern neighbors with a turkey dinner, football and family time and you can enjoy this holiday in a tropical setting. Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant will be serving up a feast.

Executive Chef Ignacio Uribe, Chef de Cuisine Hugo Mejia and Sous Chef Rogelio Garcia have chosen some spectacular recipes and dinner is served from 5 to 11pm Monday, October 12th. Here is the a la carte menu. The regular dinner menu is also available.

*Butternut Squash and Apple Soup
*Apple Fennel Salad with Arugula, Pecans & Pomegranate with Mandarin Orange Vinaigrette

*Maple Roasted Turkey with Sage, Smoked Bacon and Chorizo Bread Stuffing with cranberry relish, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes and gravy
*Blackened Salmon fillet served over Pan-finished Corn with Poblano Strips and a Cherry Tomato Sauce

*Spaghetti a la Marco Polo with Shrimp, Thai Green Curry and Kaffir Lime

*Apple and Maple Bread Pudding
*Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake

A great dinner, good company and a wonderful setting for this traditional holiday in a not so traditional place.
